Softball League

Each year Council 6923 puts together a couple of softball teams for the Morse Beach Softball League. Contact Ron Wesley or Larry Kunkel for more information.

It's time to get serious about softball now that we are in the last week before League competition begins. I'm proud to say that Rob made effort to make the necessay schedule adjustments to minimize our Tuesday and Wednesday team playing back to back each week and having Byes in the same weeks.

Here is the schedule for Tuesday E League on North Diamond (back field every week ) and it will be on the Morse Beach website in the very near future:

Fall session begins week of August 3rd ......

PS: Roster has to be turned in game 1 and those who are playing must sign prior. If you miss the fisrt week, you can sign the roster when you are at the field before you play. We have 2 Home Run Rule in E league but they have brought back the "one up rule" so as long as both teams are hitting long ball, there isn't a maximum now.

If you go to Morse beach website and look on left for ASA rules / restrictions, you can find the list of "illegal bats" as well as the limited number of "banned bats". Banned bats actually have ASA approval seal but once they were put into play, they proved to be "too hot" and have now been banned. We are still playing the limited flight softball but one -three new balls will be used to start each new game.

On a side note about limited filght balls, this past week a player was killed in Elkhart, IN when he was hit directly in the back of the head as he approached home plate from a cutoff throw from infielder so even these balls are still very serious. I should know since I was drilled in the inner thigh and had black blue markings with knot for 3-4 weeks when I pitched.

Look over the first 3-4 weeks and let me know if you are in / out so we can start preparing for subs if needed.

Thanks
Ron Wesley :)
